Mid Term Proposal

I chose to do my mid term about a person who I admired as a child. My parents read to me a book about Louis Pasteur and his first test of his vaccine for rabies as a child quite often as a bed time story. I always thought after hearing that book that Louis Pasteur was a hero in medicine, even after no one believed in him and all of his experiments. He believed in himself, and it paid off in the end, and I always admired that about this story I was read. Although what I was read as a child was only a children’s book, and I am looking forward to doing some research on Louis Pasteur and learning about all of his accomplishments.

Louis Pasteur was a French biologist and chemist who made many discoveries including the vaccine for rabies and he also discovered the process of pasteurization, which we still use this his pasteurization for our milk to this day. His first rabies vaccine was first tested on a nine year old boy named Joseph Meister in July of 1885. The boy was bitten by a rabid dog, and was treated with a vaccine that Pasteur had grown in rabbits, and tested earlier on dogs. The vaccine was successful on Joseph and he grew up to become a caretaker and worked for Louis Pasteur.

In my collage I am hoping to create the image of dreams, and that they can come true if you believe in yourself, the same image that I saw and felt always after reading that book as a kid. Louis Pasteur earned his title of a famous and admired scientist by all whose methods we still use today. That is a great accomplishment, and we can all accomplish great things also. That is the image I am hoping that anyone who sees my collage will walk away with.

I chose serveral images that I would like to use in my collage and attempt to portray the image of dreams come true if you believe in yourself. The image that I believe gives off that feeling the most and will tie all the other images together is image 4.
I really like this image because the quote “I think I can” is repeated over and over in this image and is the mindset you need to make your dreams and accomplishments come to life. I have also chosen to use images of Louis Pasteur himself, and I also was able to find an image of the childhood book that I read as a child, which means a lot to me, although I am not sure how I would tie it in with my collage just yet. Im still working on that. One of my favorite images that I found and plan to use is the worlds greatest scientists images, which shows what he has done and what he did that makes him one of the greatest scientists of all time.
